Kecoughtan High School celebrates Theatre in Our Schools Month

Set the stage and get ready for the show! It is Theatre in Our Schools Month and educational theatre departments are celebrating all around the world. Come join the Kecoughtan High School (KHS) theatre department in celebration of Theatre in Our Schools Month, to find out what Kecoughtan theatre students have been doing in their local community and the ways theatre has impacted them.

Theatre in Our Schools Month (TIOS) is a global campaign to spread awareness and share just how impactful theatre education is in the lives of students. With theatre-inspired community fundraisers and events, such as the TOTS-Eat Community Food Drive and student performances at local elementary schools, you will see KHS students giving their all to support the community by following their ambitions.

During this month, students have organized theatre-based workshops, theatrical spirit days, theatre shout-outs, a YouTube playlist of children’s stories and a collection of one-scene performances, to spread theatre awareness throughout the community.

The public is invited to the KHS theatre department’s Theatre in Our Schools Month live stream presentation (https://youtu.be/icvyRir5uCU) on March 25, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. Learn more about TIOS Month, as KHS theatre students explain what they have been doing throughout the community, and how you can give your support. For more information, contact the KHS theatre department director Tracy Bourne at tbourne@hampton.k12.va.us.

Theatre in Our Schools Month is a campaign by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and the International Thespian Society (ITS).
