HCS fifth graders sing in honors concert

One hundred forty of Hampton City Schools' musicians performed at the standing-room-only fifth-grade honors choir concert. Students were selected as the top musicians from their school and performed in the program entitled Making Music Together

Jordan Rivera of Cooper Elementary Magnet School for Technology and Kenji Perez from Kraft Elementary School were chosen as outstanding musicians for the HCS Elementary Honors Choir.

“While there have been virtual performances over the last two years, we were proud to return to making live music for families and the community,” shared Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.

The music consisted of the following:

Let The Music Begin by Jill Gallina
Big World, Small World by Teresa Jennings
A Child Of This World by Teresa Jennings
Best Day Of My Life by Audrey Snyder
Be A Light by J. Thompson, J. Miller, M. Dragstrem, and T. Rhett
In This World Together by Teresa Jennings

The conductor for the concert was Michelle Raybourne, a music educator from Kraft Elementary School.

“It was a joy to work with this group of talented young musicians,” said Michelle Raybourne. “They were well-prepared by their teachers. It was what all choir directors dream of when putting together a concert like this in such a short amount of time. The singers and their teachers should be very proud of what they accomplished with their amazing performance!”
