Bethel High School band students earn $386,903 in music scholarship offers

Congratulations to the following Bethel High School band students for earning a combined total of $386,903.00 in music scholarship offers: Imani Belcher, Da'Rel Brooks, Omari Carter, Isaiah Cole, Cayden Cooper, Yuzori Graham, Kerry Gray, Danielle Hunt, Nadia Jennings, and Aracya Thomas.

The music scholarship offers range from $4,000 to $24,000. They are renewable for up to four years.

The students auditioned for music scholarships at an audition day at Kings Fork High School. Schools include Wilberforce University, Virginia Union University, Virginia State University, Simmons University, Morgan State University, Kentucky State University, Hampton University, Clark Atlanta University, and Benedict College.

Jerry Lancaster is the Bethel High School director of bands.

“The students received all the offers because they have the musical and leadership skills colleges recognize. This is no accident,” said Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader. “Over their years in band, they have learned how to play their instrument, read music, and lead others. This has been under the direction of their middle school band directors and Mr. Lancaster, the Bethel High School director of bands.”
