Hampton City Schools announces two additional assistant principal new hires 

 

Hampton City Schools recently announced two additional assistant principal new hires for the 2022-2023 school year.


Mary S. Peake Elementary

Margaret Henderson-Hopkins joins the administrative team at Peake Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year. She began her teaching career in Danville, Virginia as a fifth grade teacher and has also taught fifth grade in Kinston, North Carolina. She joined Hampton City Schools in 2002 and served as an elementary classroom teacher in several schools in Hampton before becoming a math coach in 2012. She has served as a Title I math support specialist at Machen and Smith Elementary Schools since 2016. 


She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Averett University and a master's in educational leadership from Old Dominion University.  


Lindsay Middle School

Lindsay Middle welcomes Paulette Townsend to their administrative team serving as one of the assistant principals at the school. Townsend began her teaching career in Norfolk Public Schools as a social studies teacher in 2007. She joined Hampton City Schools in 2018 as a Civics and Economics teacher at Tarrant Middle School. In addition, she has served as the attendance recovery program coordinator, the student success and achievement champion team chairperson, and National Junior Honor Society sponsor, as well as participated on the school testing committee and teacher advisory council. 


Townsend holds a bachelor's degree in political science/pre-law from Norfolk State University, her teaching program certification from Virginia Wesleyan College, a master's in curriculum and instruction from Averett University, and an ED. S. in educational leadership from Liberty University.
