Andrews PreK-8 School student’s artwork is featured on Aldi shopping bag

 

Karter Hines, a rising third grader at Andrews PreK-8 School, had her artwork selected to be featured on the Aldi grocery store’s shopping bag for the month of June. All proceeds of the bag are being donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).

 

The mission of ALSF is to change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families, and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.

 

ALSF started with one lemonade stand, hosted by its founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott in her front yard where she raised $2,000. She was just four years old and battling neuroblastoma when she asked to give the money so doctors can find cures for all children battling cancer.

 

Since that first stand, ALSF has funded more than 1,000 cutting-edge research projects at nearly 150 institutions in the U.S. and Canada and supported families through much needed programs like “Travel For Care” that helps make cutting-edge treatments accessible to children.

 

Karter and her family became involved with ALSF when her younger brother Kade, who is now almost four-years-old, was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in July 2020. Retinoblastoma is a rare eye cancer that begins in the back of the eye (retina), most commonly in children. He is now in remission.

 

Karter, who has another brother Christopher (Kade’s twin), loves art and science. She hopes to one day work at NASA and build a zero-gravity housing pod so people can live in outer space.
