Tiffany Fortune receives Muriel S. Wright Office Professional of the Year Award

Congratulations to Tiffany Fortune, administrative secretary at Phenix PreK-8 School. She is the 2023 recipient of the Muriel S. Wright Office Professional of the Year Award.

The Hampton Association of Educational Office Professionals (HAEOP) prize patrol team presented the award to Fortune at her school on May 18, 2023, as she was unable to attend the annual recognition reception that evening. Hampton City Schools employees nominate individuals for the award and applications are judged based on criteria established for the award. She was nominated by her supervisor and principal of Phenix, Robin Hunt-Crenshaw.

“Mrs. Fortune provides great customer service to all whether over the phone or when visiting the main office,” said Hunt-Crenshaw. “Her outstanding performance as an office professional has helped make Phenix a welcoming environment for many.”

Fortune has been a member of the HCS family for 10 years. In addition to serving as the secretary, she also worked as a kindergarten assistant and a substitute at Phenix.

“Getting to work with the students and now the parents allows for relationships to grow stronger,” said Fortune.

Fortune has been a member of HAEOP since 2018 and has been involved in many areas of the organization. She has helped with fundraising and the winter bazaar. She also helps organize HAEOP collections/donations at her school (i.e., hats and scarfs and Blessing Baskets). She says weekends are family fun time and her family is an active sports family. She is currently the vice president of the Northampton Little League and sits on the Virginia district board as the safety officer.

Congratulations again to Tiffany Fortune for her outstanding service to Hampton City Schools and for receiving this well-deserved honor.
