PR & marketing department earns awards

The Hampton City Schools (HCS) public relations and marketing department earned awards of excellence (the highest recognition) in two categories from the Chesapeake Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (CHESPRA). The winners were announced during the fall CHESPRA Conference in Harrisonburg, VA

The CHESPRA Communications Contest recognizes outstanding communications produced by public school districts and private schools located in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Entries must have been produced during the previous school year and are judged by media and public relations professionals.

HCS received the award of excellence in the following categories:

Print: Financial Information – 2022-2023 Budget at a Glance

Print: Special Publication – School PR Flyers

Kellie Goral, executive director of public relations and marketing, shares, "The departments of PR & marketing, graphics (under the direction of Matt Houser), print shop and records (under the direction of Marty Wood), and PEG TV (under the direction of Andy Foley) work collaboratively with our HCS departments, schools, and staff members. The work they produce effectively and efficiently communicates important information; spotlights students, staff members, and programs; and ultimately tells the many stories of Hampton City Schools. These departments, their leaders, and their staff members are a critical component of the HCS team. They are constantly working to grow their trade and be innovative in their work. Winning two Awards of Excellence (the highest recognition) validates the outstanding content that is created and produced by these departments."
