One-time pandemic relief bonus for HCS employees

On November 2, 2022, the School Board approved a one-time pandemic relief bonus for all full- and part-time employees who have a start date on or before December 1, 2022. Full-time employees will receive an after-tax bonus of $1,000 and part-time employees will receive an after-tax bonus of $750. The bonus will be paid to staff on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Superintendent Dr. Jeffery Smith shares, “This one-time pandemic relief bonus aligns with one of the key goals of the School Board’s 2021-2026 HCS Strategic Plan - Attract, Develop, and Retain Exceptional Staff. Hampton City Schools is receiving $2 million from the state to fund this one-time pandemic bonus for Standards of Quality (SOQ) positions. However, the School Board and division leadership recognizes that HCS has over 1,300 non-SOQ positions. As such, it is important that we utilize other approved budgeted funds to provide this bonus to all full- and part-time employees.”
