Kilgore Gifted Center student Lily Nichols wins first place at the State Fair of Virginia

Lily Nichols, a sixth grade student at Kilgore Gifted Center, earned first place in the Youth Creative Digital Arts category at the State Fair of Virginia. The fair was held September 23 through October 2, 2022. She competed against young people from across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

“Lily is a true artist who loves to draw in her free time. In class, she takes the initiative to do the next assignment when she is done,” said her art teacher Danielle Smith. “While she is confident in her medium of choice she is also curious to explore new medium such as ink.” 

The State Fair of Virginia is held annually at the end of September at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia.
