Forrest Elementary School student Amel Burks wins Live Love Paint Foundation art contest

Congratulations to Amel Burks, a fourth grade student at Forrest Elementary School, who was the elementary school winner of an art contest sponsored by the Live Love Paint Foundation. The contest was targeted to Hampton Roads area students but anyone was able to apply. There were even submissions from India and Slovakia. 

The theme of the contest was Art frees your mind. It was inspired by how art and creativity can help you get through tough times. Amel received an art kit filled with art supplies and her design will appear on the Live Love Paint Foundation's 2021 t-shirt collection and other merchandise.

“Amel is a consistent and thoughtful artist. Her gentle and kind personality always shines through her artwork,” said Forrest art teacher Hope Corizzo. “I am thrilled her design was selected for this award, as it will surely inspire others! Way to go, Amel!”
