Bethel High School participates in 1 million book giveaway

Students from Bethel High School (BHS) recently announced that they are joining over 30,000 high school students nationwide in an effort to give 1 million books to underserved youth in their local communities as part of Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, a national high school leadership program. BHS kicked off their project on September 21, 2022.

The 1 million books are sponsored by Chick-fil-A, Inc. and will be packaged and given by students to a local charity, elementary school, or non-profit organization of their choice. More than 1,000 high schools take part in the seven-month program representing local communities across 43 states.

“The kickoff was fun and exciting,” said student Alaiya Alston. “I enjoyed putting together the book sets and meeting with the students the next day. The students were excited to get the books. I can’t wait to continue mentoring the elementary students this year.”

TrAIL Academy team lead Heather Woodruff said, “This year’s group of Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy are eager and ready to impact their community and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish.”
