Visual art, music, theatre, and dance develop the 21st century competencies of critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, citizenship, and wellness.

  • Students in the arts form judgments through objective analysis and evaluation.
  • Students in the arts look at problems or situations from a fresh perspective to conceive of something new or original.
  • Students in the arts convey and share their ideas and feelings.
  • Students in the arts work together to create something new.
  • Students in the arts contribute to their community and to our society.
  • Students in the arts understand how participation and performance/production improves their health and the health of others.

MISSION The Visual and Performing Arts Department will create, provide, and expand arts experiences that contribute to every student’s social emotional learning and foster a positive school culture.

VISION All Hampton City Schools students will have access and opportunity to participate in high quality visual and performing arts programming in their academic environment.
