Virginia School Boards Association Provides Summary of Superintendent Applicants

As a part of the Hampton City Schools Superintendent Search, the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) provided a summary of the applicants. Per VSBA, of the 38 inquiries, there were 27 full applications:

• Twelve current or former superintendents
• Fourteen central office administrators
• One principal/building level administrator
• Fourteen men
• Thirteen women
• Eleven Virginia applicants
  
• Sixteen out-of-state applicants from: FL (1), GA (1), IL, (1), PA (3), MD (2), MA (1), MN (1), NC (4), NY (1), and TX (1)

The Hampton School Board will be conducting interviews for the position of superintendent from April 29 through May 13, 2023. These interviews will be held in accordance with the Code of VA Section 2.2-3712. The Board will continue to announce 15 day windows until the interview process is complete.
